Research Institute of Cement and New Building Materials (RICNBM) was founded in 1954, is the largest R&D organization in the fields of cement, concrete and building materials in China. RICNBM’s scope of interest covers cement, concrete admixtures, concrete and concrete products, special engineering materials, new building materials, new environmental engineering materials etc. Its main activities include R&D, standards development, quality supervision and testing, technologies and equipment.

 

RICNBM currently has more than 100 employees, 75% of whom are professional researchers. With its strong technical force and well-equipped laboratories, RICNBM has completed more than 800 research projects. Our achievements, amounting to more than 300 items, have filled in the gaps in the field of building materials and been conferred 40 national awards (including the State Technological Invention Award and the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award), 100 ministerial prizes and 200 patents. The technologies have met international advanced level, and some of the technologies and products have been exported and acclaimed in the world.

 

RICNBM oversees 5 specialized Centers. They are Concrete Engineering Technology Center of the Ministry of Construction, Quality Supervision and Testing Center for House Building Materials in Building Materials Industry, Quality Supervision and Testing Center for Cement Packing Bag in Building Materials Industry, Supervision and Testing Center for Cement Examining Instruments in Building Materials Industry, Environment Monitoring Center in Building Materials Industry. Also under RICNBM are the National Cement Standardization Technology Committee, Cement Branch, Concrete and Cementitious Products Branch and House Building Materials Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society, China Concrete Admixture Association, Chinese GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement) Association, Ecological Building Materials Branch of China Building Materials Industry Association and the Cement-based Materials Key Laboratory, attached to RICNBM. RICNBM acts as a platform for cement and new building materials industry in China and has won a high reputation overseas.

 

RICNBM will go ahead to sincerely provide technology transfer and technological service to all walks of life. RICNBM is developing academic exchanges with our counterparts and will make greater contributions to the development of cement and new building materials industry in China.
